This class will cover how to install, configure, partition, manage and move data, security for postgresql and general database architecture (basic topics), and backup and recovery, performance tuning, monitoring and understanding the statistics, handling upgrades, high availability, RULEs, triggers, wrappers, PL/pgSQL procedural language and more (advanced topics).
Starting monday at 8am all attendees will be walked through PostgreSQL basics of downloading, installing and configuring an instance of PostgreSQL. All morning long there will be access to coffee and water and at noon, a catered lunch will be served. Then at 5pm, class will begin to wrap up for the evening and the instructor will take questions after which class will adjourn till Tuesday morning.
Tuesday will cover PostgreSQL management, roles, security, tablespaces, partitioning, moving data and possibly other advanced features of PostgreSQL.
On Wednesday at 8am coffee and water will be available to all and a catered lunch will be served at noon. The topics covered will include routine DBA tasks and best practices, monitoring and statistics, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies and PostgreSQL upgrades. Class will wrap up with a Q & A session around 5pm.
At 8am on Thursday the class will kick off with more coffee, replication, high availability, RULEs, PostgreSQL and EVENT triggers, PL/pgSQL and other procedural languages as well as PostgreSQL contribs. Lunch will be served at noon and class will close around 5pm.
